Pla de Bages is a unique area situated amidst legendary mountain ranges such as Montserrat and the Castelltallat Range, the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park, and the Montcau massif with important cultural tourism sites including the Monastery of Sant Benet de Bages, the salt mines of Cardona, the Cave of Saint Ignatius in Manresa, and the medieval irrigation canal known as La Sèquia. In addition to this, the region offers a growing list of leisure, cultural, and gastronomic activities.
Vineyards and wineries of the DO Pla de Bages appellation also offer guided tours, wine tastings, and other activities to develop the area’s wine culture.
Some of the most iconic features of the Bages region include its wine vats or vineyard huts. These structures were made using dry stone construction and used by farmers working in the fields for shelter from the weather or to store agricultural equipment. Many of these huts were built due to the significant expansion of wine grape cultivation, and the majority of them remain well preserved.
