Located between the river Ebro and the lands of El Matarranya. A frontier zone which has existed for centuries, where the Templars tended their vines as far back as the thirteenth century.
Vineyards which rise up to 500 meters above sea level. The Mediterranean nature of the soil adds character to all the wines, which are known for their strength and character.
North-westerly and south-westerly winds pass through limestone mountains and forests of oak and white pine, bringing fresh air to fields of almond, vine and olive trees, making this land, for many, a Catalan Tuscany.
Garnacha is the flagship DO variety and the one which best represents it in all its splendour. White wines of the white and Garnacha Macabeo varieties predominate. They are powerful and thoroughly Mediterranean, light, with a fine palate and a distinct taste. The rosés and reds, brimming with personality, are made with Cariñena, Garnacha Negraand Garnacha Peluda, with a hint of Tempranillo, and also Morenillo (a local variety). The rosés are crisp, with a lingering taste. The reds, meanwhile are sober and full-bodied, with highly complex flavours.
